Just realized my paint roller technique was all wrong after a comment on my last project
I was painting my living room in Seattle last weekend and a friend stopped by. He pointed out I was rolling too fast, saying 'you're basically just flicking paint at the wall, man.' I slowed way down, letting the roller nap soak up more paint and apply it evenly. The second coat went on smoother with way less splatter and used about 15% less paint. Anyone have other simple painting tricks that made a big difference?

Ever try the 'W' method for cutting in? I used to just do a straight line with my brush, but starting with a big 'W' shape and then filling it in gave me way cleaner edges around my trim. Made a huge difference on my last bedroom project.

I mean it's just paint... how clean do the edges really need to be. I just do a straight line and it looks fine once everything dries. People make this stuff way too complicated with all these special methods.
