Building a planter box with my brother-in-law taught me about asking for help

Lately, I see more people diving into DIY without enough hands. He insisted on doing it alone but got the measurements wrong. I walked in as he was trying to force pieces together. We had to re-cut everything, and it got pretty silly. Now I always offer help before things go sideways.

It's just a planter box though. Messing up some measurements feels like a pretty low stakes problem to learn this lesson from.

Totally get that! I built a bench last year and the legs ended up different lengths. Had to prop it up with a stack of old magazines for months.

yeah I was the same way, always wanted to figure stuff out solo. had a shelf collapse on me once from doing that, total mess. now I just text someone first before it gets to that point.
