Am I the only one who thinks a simple door replacement should take more than a weekend?

I bought a pre-hung interior door for my hallway, thinking it would be a quick Saturday job. After dealing with a warped frame and shimming for hours, the whole thing took me three full days to get it hung and closing right. Who else has had a basic project blow up like that?

You're definitely not alone. My last door project turned into a full-on house of horrors. The old door came out fine, but the new pre-hung unit was a solid half-inch taller than the opening. Had to take a saw to the header, which of course hid a nest of ancient wiring I had to reroute. What should have been an afternoon turned into a long weekend of pure regret.

Feel your pain on a deep level. Had a similar thing happen with a window last fall. Measured twice, ordered once, and the rough opening was still off by a full inch. Spent a whole day chipping out old brick to make it fit, only to find the original framing was totally rotten. That quick swap cost me three days and a lot of cussing.

Sounds like every home project hides a nasty surprise.
