Wasted $60 on a cheap garage floor epoxy kit from the big box store
It peeled up after just 3 months, right where the tires hit. Should I just bite the bullet and get the professional grade stuff or is there a middle ground that actually works?

The real issue is probably the concrete itself, not just the epoxy kit. Most guys skip the prep work. You need to etch the floor with acid or grind it until it's rough like sandpaper, then clean every bit of dust with a degreaser and vacuum. Even the expensive kits will fail if the concrete is sealed or has oil soaked in from previous messes. Try the acid etch route first with a mid-tier roll-on kit, and make sure you give it the full 72 hours to cure before parking on it. Have you pressure washed the garage floor recently to check for any hidden sealer?
