Pro tip: My garage floor went from slick to safe in about 30 minutes.
I painted the floor with a standard epoxy kit last spring. By this winter, any tiny bit of water or snow melt made it like an ice rink. I finally mixed in a grit additive I got at the hardware store and rolled on a fresh top coat. The difference is night and day, even when it's wet. Anyone have a favorite brand of anti-slip additive that holds up?

Yeah, that grit is a total game changer, isn't it? I learned that lesson the hard way too. Slipped on my own garage floor like a cartoon character. I just use the generic silica sand stuff from the big box store. It's cheap and it mixes right into the paint or epoxy. The key is to really stir it in well so it doesn't all sink to the bottom of the tray. Makes you wonder why they don't just include it in every floor coating kit from the start.

My buddy found that out the hard way after he sealed his basement floor. He was carrying a laundry basket, took one step, and went down like a sack of potatoes. Had a bruise for weeks. Totally agree with @drew_jenkins54 about mixing it in well, that's exactly where my friend messed up. He just sprinkled it on top and it wore off in a month. Now he swears by mixing that sand right into the first coat, says it's the only way it stays put.
