Pro tip: check your garage door opener's force settings after a season change

I kept hearing a loud bang when my door closed last winter... thought it was just the cold. My neighbor in Spokane said his door did the same thing and it broke a spring. I looked at the manual for my Chamberlain opener and adjusted the 'close force' dial up one notch. The noise stopped right away. Has anyone else had to tweak these settings with the weather?

It's wild how many household noises are just things asking for a tiny adjustment.

My fridge has been humming the same sad tune since the Obama administration.

Ha, I'm gonna respectfully disagree on that one. I actually think the constant humming means it's working too hard, not just keeping a beat. That fridge is basically running nonstop because it's probably low on coolant or the seals are all dried out. I had a fridge that hummed for years and it was just slowly dying the whole time, costing me money on the electric bill. If you can hear it from the next room, it's trying to tell you something is wrong, not just vibing. Might be worth having someone look at it before it gives up for good.
