My garage door opener install turned into a two day comedy of errors

I thought swapping my old chain drive for a new belt drive unit would be a simple three hour job, but I spent a whole afternoon just trying to get the mounting bracket level (my concrete ceiling is not flat at all). The whole thing took about fourteen hours over two days, mostly because I had to keep taking it down and putting it back up. Anyone have a good trick for mounting stuff on a really uneven garage ceiling?

Man that sounds brutal. Did you try using a laser level or just a regular one?

Actually used to think laser levels were overkill for simple jobs. Trying to hang these shelves with a regular level was a total nightmare though. The laser made it so much faster and straighter.
