I thought those magnetic socket holders were just a gimmick

My buddy gave me a set for my birthday last month, and I figured they'd just fall off the moment I put a wrench on them. I stuck one to the side of my toolbox anyway, loaded it with my 3/8 inch drive sockets, and forgot about it. Yesterday I was under a car and grabbed a socket off it, and the whole thing just stayed put, no wobble at all. I'm a total convert now. What other simple garage tools did you guys think were silly until you tried them?

Yeah, "total convert" is right. I was the same way with those little flexible parts trays. I thought they were for people who organized their paper clips. Now I'm using one to hold all the bolts from a carburetor and it's not a disaster.

My old metal parts tray was a nightmare, bolts rolling everywhere. I got a magnetic one like @jake_chen mentioned, and it holds small screws on a slanted engine bay perfectly. The real game changer was a magnetic wristband though, it keeps all those little ferrous bits from vanishing into the gravel.
