Hot take: Grease guns aren't all the same

I always thought any cheap grease gun would do the job for my tractor. So I grabbed a $15 one at Rural King and used it on my Ford 8N for 6 months. Then the coupler blew off while I was greasing the front axle and made a huge mess. I finally got a LockNLube coupler for $35 and now I don't dread greasing things. Has anyone else had a cheap gun fail on them at the worst time?

Oh man, is a greasy mess really that big of a deal? I mean yeah it sucks but you just wipe it off and move on. I've been using a basic $12 no-name gun on my old Case for like three years now and it's still going, coupler and all. Maybe I just got lucky or maybe people overthink these things (like my buddy who swears you need a special gun for every different fitting).

Wait till that cheap coupler blows off at 2000 PSI and sprays hot grease all over your shirt and you'll change your tune.
