My plumber friend in Denver said 'it's not a leak until you see water' and I can't stop thinking about it.

I was worried about a tiny drip from a valve under my bathroom sink for months. He came over, looked at it, and told me that. He meant I was stressing over a part that's meant to weep a little, and to save my energy for actual problems. It hit different because I'd been planning a whole weekend project to fix something that wasn't broken. Has anyone else had a pro talk them down from an unnecessary repair?

But what if that tiny drip causes mold or ruins the cabinet over time?

That's a fair worry, but a single drip usually dries too fast for mold. I had a slow leak under my kitchen sink for months before I noticed. The real damage was to the particle board shelf, which swelled up like a sponge. The wood frame around it was fine. Mold needs constant dampness, not just a quick splash.

Hey, didn't your friend have that leak from her AC unit? I mean, it was just a little drip but it went on for weeks and warped her floorboard.
