Learned the hard way: don't buy cheap paint rollers from Dollar General
Spent $3 on a pack of those rollers figuring I'd save a few bucks. After 20 minutes of painting my living room, the foam started peeling off and left clumps all over the wall. Had to let it dry, sand it down, and repaint that whole section. Cost me an extra hour and a half of work and another $8 to fix. Has anyone else had luck with those mid priced rollers at Home Depot vs the expensive Purdy ones?

Oh man, I was a TOTAL cheapskate about this too. I used to buy whatever rollers were cheapest at the hardware store thinking they all did the same job. Then I grabbed a pack from the dollar store once for a quick bathroom job and the nap just started shedding like crazy. It left fuzz all over my semi-gloss finish and I had to pick it out with tweezers while the paint was still wet. I finally caved and bought a Purdy last year and honestly it changed my whole view on painting supplies. You really do get what you pay for with these things.

Ha, the tweezers. I've been there. Though I think you might be mixing up nap with the roller cover itself, the nap is actually the fuzzy part that can shed. But yeah, dollar store rollers are a gamble you only lose once.
