Just realized my father in law's advice about drywall screws was totally backwards
He told me to always use coarse thread screws for metal studs and fine thread for wood. I followed that for 3 years until my foreman at the Henderson job site walked over and pointed out I had it reversed the whole time. Turns out coarse thread bites into wood and fine thread grabs metal better. Anyone else get bad advice from a relative that made extra work for you?

Oh man, I read something about that in a DIY blog once.

You ever have one of those moments where you realize you've been making life harder for no reason? That drywall screw thing happened to me with my own basement reno, wasted two days fixing stuff. Always double check advice against a simple online guide before you commit.
