Appreciation post: I was sure the $80 moisture meter was a gimmick until my basement project in Cleveland

I mean, it found a soaked stud behind drywall that felt totally fine, idk. Has anyone else had a tool they doubted save a job?

Wow, that's a crazy find. What kind of meter did you end up getting, one of those pinless ones? I'm always worried about missing something like that in my own place.

Honestly seems like overkill to me. Most of those meters are just reading normal moisture in the air, not a real leak. People get scared over nothing and waste a ton of money chasing ghosts.
