This week I fixed three dishwashers with the exact same broken door latch

A Bosch, a KitchenAid, and a Samsung all came in with the latch assembly stuck in the closed position. All three had a little piece of plastic snapped off inside the mechanism. Anybody else seeing a pattern with these newer models?

Caught one of my buddy's Samsungs doing the exact same thing last month. He was pissed, said the door latch just gave up mid cycle and flooded his whole kitchen floor. Had to buy a whole new machine because the repair parts were backordered for weeks.

Yeah that tracks with what I've seen lately. It's not just Samsung either. Seems like appliances in general are built to fail after a few years now. My parents still have a washing machine from the 90s that runs fine. Meanwhile my buddy's brand new LG needed a control board replacement within 18 months. They want you to just toss the whole thing and buy another one.
