Hot take: people who swear by using the sanitize cycle on every load are wasting money and electricity
I stopped using the sanitize cycle 6 months ago after my energy bill hit $150, and guess what, my glasses still don't have spots and my plates still come out clean, so why are we all pretending 150 degree water is necessary when 120 works fine?

I quit the sanitize cycle last year too and my dishes look the same. Really feels like a marketing gimmick that stuck around.

Thought I was wasting cash too but your post actually made me reconsider after I read about how most dishwashers only need to hit 120 for proper cleaning. Did a side-by-side test with sanitize off and honestly saw zero difference in how my plates and silverware came out. You're spot on about the energy savings though - my bill dropped $20 a month without it.
