My standing desk converter slipped during a zoom call and took out my coffee mug

Was adjusting the height on my VariDesk Pro Plus 36 and the gas spring gave out, dumping the whole thing sideways across my desk and shattering my favorite mug. Has anyone else had a converter fail like this or did I just get a lemon?

Jumped in to say the same thing @aaronf40. My Vivo converter did the same thing last month. Gas spring just gave out during a Teams call. Took out my headphones and a plant.

Oh man, same thing happened to me a couple months back! I was just sitting there editing some photos and the gas spring on my converter let go with a loud pop... scared the daylights out of me. It totally crushed my favorite desk lamp and sent my water bottle flying across the room. I'm still finding little bits of plastic from the lamp wedged in the carpet.

Took out my coffee mug" - I mean, yeah that sucks but is it really the end of the world? These gas spring things fail sometimes, it happens. Your mileage may vary but I've had my cheapo converter for like three years now and never had an issue, so maybe you just got a bad one. Filing a warranty claim is probably your best bet instead of worrying about it too much.
