Update: I thought the whole 'digital nomad visa' thing was just a tourist trap

Honestly, I was sure places like Portugal's D7 visa were just a way to get you to spend money without real benefits. But after seeing a friend actually get residency and stay for over a year without any visa runs, I had to look into it. The big thing that convinced me was the tax setup, which lets you pay a flat 20% rate instead of getting hit with way more back home. Has anyone else made the jump with one of these, maybe in Croatia or Estonia?

No kidding, it's legit. I looked at Croatia's digital nomad visa last year and almost went for it. The paperwork was a pain but having a full year to just live there without messing with borders is huge. That flat tax rate is what makes it worth the hassle for a lot of people.

That tax break is the real game changer.
