The 'book everything 6 months ahead' advice I got from a Bali coworking regular backfired hard

A woman named Jen who'd been nomading for 5 years told me to lock in my accommodation and flights way early for Chiang Mai to save cash. I booked a 3 month apartment in the Nimman area for $450 a month back in January. Turns out I got stuck in a noisy construction zone while last-minute folks grabbed quieter spots for $50 less through Facebook groups. Has anyone else found that rigid planning as a digital nomad just doesn't pan out compared to staying flexible?

Spent 80 bucks on a non-refundable hotel for a weekend trip once, learned that same lesson the hard way.

Read a blog post last month about a guy who did the same thing in Medellin. Booked a penthouse six months out, ended up in a loud bar district. The people who found places a week before arrival snagged better deals on local expat groups. Flexibility seems to beat planning every time in these cities.
