Pro tip: My "work from beach" setup took exactly 8 days to go from dream to nightmare

Day 1 I was posting sunset pics from a cabana in Koh Samui, by day 8 I had sand in every USB port, a sunburnt laptop screen, and a local macaque stole my portable charger. Anybody else find that internet cafes actually beat the whole beach office aesthetic real quick?

Did you ever manage to get the sand out of those USB ports, or are they permanently crunchy now? I had a similar experience with a "work from patio" phase last summer - turns out direct sunlight and laptop screens do not mix well, and I fried two keyboards before I gave up. Internet cafes at least have predictable conditions, even if they do smell like old coffee and desperation. What exactly went wrong with your battery pack, did the monkey actually get away with it?

That "work from patio" phase sounds brutal, I read somewhere that UV light actually degrades plastic casing over time. As for the monkey, I heard a story on a podcast about how they specifically target anything shiny, so yeah, he probably made off with it.
