My friend in Lisbon told me my work setup was making me look unprofessional

We were at a cafe in Alfama and she pointed out how my laptop screen was tilted away from clients during video calls, making it seem like I wasn't paying attention. I'd been doing it for months thinking it was fine, but she said it looked like I was distracted. Now I always make sure my screen is straight on and I even bought a small portable ring light for better lighting. Has anyone else gotten feedback on their remote work habits that they had to fix?

It's wild how we can miss these little things that seem so obvious to others, right? Your friend did you a real favor by pointing that out. I had a similar moment where my audio was echoing and I had no idea until a client finally said something. It makes you wonder what else you're missing. Good on you for fixing it so fast.

Honestly my webcam feedback was WAY worse. For like a year I had a giant pile of laundry on my bed right behind me. Thought it was just a blurry background, but my boss finally asked if I was living in a laundromat. Total wake-up call to clean my room before meetings. That portable ring light is a game changer though, good move.
