Just realized my phone plan was costing me more than a flight
I was sitting in a cafe in Medellin last week and heard two other nomads talking about their phone bills. One said he pays $45 a month for a local SIM with unlimited data. I checked my own bill and saw I was still paying $85 a month for my old US plan, just using it abroad. That's over $500 in six months. I immediately went to a Claro store and got a local plan for $30. Has anyone else found a good global eSIM they like for bouncing between countries?

Remember when roaming charges felt like a second rent payment?

Got a $300 bill once just for checking email on a beach trip. @wells.james, that post hits hard. I learned to always buy a local SIM card at the airport now. Even a cheap one gives you data for maps and messages without the shock. It's the only way to travel and not feel ripped off.
