A guy in a Chiang Mai cafe told me my setup was 'sad'

I was working from a spot on Nimman Road, happy with my laptop and noise-canceling headphones. This older nomad leaned over, pointed at my screen, and said, 'If you need all that to focus, you're missing the point of being here.' It made me wonder, how much tech is too much for staying in the moment?

Who made him the focus police?

Just ignore him and keep doing your own thing.

3 minutes into that conversation I’d probably start timing how fast I could Google "rude nomad bingo". This guy sounds like he peaked in 2012 when a Chromebook and a prayer was the whole digital nomad starter pack. Noise-canceling headphones don’t kill the vibe, judgmental strangers with unsolicited opinions do.
