Was skeptical about ultrasonic cleaning for injectors but now I swear by it
For years I just used brake cleaner and a rag on injectors. Thought ultrasonic cleaners were a gimmick for the $2000 price tag. Then I borrowed a buddy's unit and ran a set of stuck 7.3 Powerstroke injectors through it for 20 minutes. They came out looking new and the truck stopped smoking within a mile. Anyone else have a tool they blew off that ended up being worth every penny?

Oh man, I feel you on that. It's rough when you put work into something and it still doesn't pan out. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap vibration polisher I bought for some small parts. Looked great on the outside but inside was still a mess. It's like, the surface stuff fools you but the real trouble is hiding deeper. So I get why you'd stick with brake cleaner and air it's solid and you know exactly what you're getting. No bad feelings there at all.

I mean, I gotta push back a little on the "came out looking new" part. I've seen plenty of guys pull injectors out of an ultrasonic and they look clean but then still have issues with the internal clearances. The smoke clearing up could just be from the solvent breaking up the gunk on the outside, not actually fixing the spray pattern. Idk, maybe I've just had bad luck, but I had a set of injectors that looked perfect after a bath but still had a dead cylinder because the internal passages were still clogged. Brake cleaner and compressed air has never let me down for the price.
