Update: I finally got the hang of reading injector cutout tests on our new scanner

For years, I just looked for the big drop in RPM on our old Snap-on unit and called it good. Last month, I was chasing a rough idle on a 6.7 Powerstroke and the old way wasn't showing me anything. I sat down with the manual for our new Autel and learned to watch the actual fuel trim numbers for each cylinder during the test. It showed me cylinder 3 was way off, which led me to a bad injector connector I would have missed. What's the one diagnostic trick that took you way too long to learn?

My old shop foreman swore by the "screwdriver to the ear" trick for finding noisy lifters. Took me five years to admit it actually works sometimes.

Honestly saw a YouTube short about that exact thing last week.
