I finally gave in and tried that ultrasonic injector cleaner at the shop

Honestly, I thought it was just a fancy gimmick, but after clearing a persistent miss on a 6.7 Powerstroke that wouldn't respond to anything else, I'm a believer. Anyone have a different go-to method for really clogged injectors?

My old shop teacher swore by a hot diesel bath for mechanical injectors, like the old 12-valve Cummins ones. We'd pull them and let them soak in a parts washer tank overnight. It's a low-tech fix, but it worked wonders on varnish that solvents alone wouldn't touch.

That sounds like a lot of work for some old injectors. Is the varnish really that bad if a normal cleaner won't touch it? Maybe some parts are just too far gone to save.
