Day and night difference after cleaning my EGR valve

Finally pulled the EGR valve on my '06 Duramax this weekend and it was caked black with carbon. After a few hours of soaking and scraping, the truck idles smooth as butter and lost that hesitation at 2k rpm. Anyone else put off cleaning one and then kick yourself after?

Holy hell, a few hours just scraping that thing? I would have lost my damn mind after 20 minutes.

and that's exactly why I noped out of that whole hobby after one try. my cousin tried to get me into it, said it was "meditative" or whatever - i lasted maybe 10 minutes before i was like yeah nah i'm good. i'd rather just watch a youtube video of someone else doing it while i eat chips or whatever.
