DAE torque every bolt now after a costly mistake?

I skipped torque specs on small bolts for years to save time. Then an over-tightened bolt cracked a cylinder head on a Duramax rebuild. Now I torque EVERY bolt, no matter how small. My comeback jobs dropped like a rock. Guys who skip this are playing with fire. That little extra care saves BIG headaches down the road. Just do it.

No kidding, learned that the hard way too. It feels silly torquing tiny bolts until you strip one or snap it off in a hole. That five seconds with a torque wrench saves hours of cussing and drilling. Your point about comeback jobs says it all, that's the real proof. Cheap insurance against your own future dumbass moment.

You mentioned it taking five seconds with a torque wrench. In practice, it often takes a bit longer to set the torque and double check the setting. Especially with small bolts, if your wrench isn't made for low torque, you can still over tighten by mistake. It's still worth it, but being precise takes more than just a quick click.
