That $40 copper grounding mat I bought for better sleep is now a very fancy doormat after three months of zero change
I read all those testimonials about improved energy and less inflammation but when I measured my sleep quality on my watch before and after, every single stat was identical across 14 nights, so has anyone else found a real use for these things or did I just buy into fancy marketing?

Fourteen nights is basically a two week science experiment, thats dedication. I cant believe you actually tracked every single stat before AND after, that is some serious commitment to testing the hype. I almost bought one of those mats myself but now I'm glad I held off, sounds like the marketing people really got everyone good on this one. Maybe try it as a plant pot base or something, at least then it would be useful for moisture control instead of just sitting there looking fancy.

Fourteen nights is a solid sample size no doubt, but maybe the issue is that you were looking for a physical change when the real benefit is more subtle or psychological. People who swear by these things talk about feeling grounded not just sleeping better, like a general calmness during the day that doesn't show up on a watch from midnight to 6am. Also, your watch is measuring movement and heart rate, not the quality of your deep sleep stages or how rested you actually feel when you wake up. If you were already sleeping decently before, a mat isn't going to turn you into a superhuman, it's more for people who are completely wired and can't wind down. I've seen guys at work who are on their feet all day say it helps their legs feel less heavy, so maybe it's a cumulative thing that takes longer than two weeks. Not saying the marketing isn't overblown, but calling it a doormat after one test feels like quitting before the experiment really gets going.
