Just realized the '5G towers cause COVID' thing is still floating around my hometown FB group

I saw someone post again yesterday that the 5G towers in Springfield were somehow linked to the pandemic back in 2020. They quoted some guy named Dr. Mark S. with no credentials and a petition with 50 signatures. How do people still fall for this when every major health org has debunked it? Has anyone in here actually seen solid proof this got shut down for good?

I mean, I saw a post like that in my own town's page last month and it had like 400 shares. What gets me is when they say "do your own research" but their source is a YouTube video with 12 views. Have you actually looked at the petition they're talking about? I tried to find it once and all the "signatures" were fake names and email addresses. Like, who's got time to verify that stuff but also who's got time to make it up? Idk, I just wonder if there's one single person who saw that petition and actually changed their mind on anything.

Right?? The "do your own research" line always kills me. Saw one in my town's page about a new development that was gonna "destroy property values" and the "evidence" was a 3 minute video from some guy with a potato camera and zero followers. Checked the petition link in the comments, it was just a Google Form with like 50 entries all from "John Smith" or "Jane Doe" with fake emails. Makes you wonder if the person posting it even believes the thing or if they're just bored and want drama.
