Realized I paid $40 a month for a gym I hadn't stepped foot in since March

Found an old bank statement from last month and saw that Planet Fitness charge staring me in the face like a ghost. Cancelled on the spot after 8 months of forgetting about it, which is basically $320 down the drain for the privilege of not lifting a single weight. Anyone else got a recurring payment they just let slide forever?

Close, but Planet Fitness charges monthly, not $40. Their basic membership is usually $10 a month plus an annual fee, so you probably paid around $80 for the year plus that yearly fee. Still sucks to lose the money, but at least you caught it eventually.

Wait, did you just say $10 a month and an annual fee? That's crazy. I honestly thought their whole thing was like $40 a month or something. People keep saying Planet Fitness is cheap but I never realized how cheap until now. So you're paying $10 a month plus whatever that annual fee is and that's it? I couldn't even get a cable package for that price. It makes sense why so many people sign up there even if they never go. That's wild that someone could pay $80 in a year without even noticing.
