Took the promotion to supervisor at the call center and it was a trap
Everyone said to take the extra $2 an hour and the title, but I saw what it did to my last boss. I picked staying on the phones and keeping my sanity over the 60 hour weeks. Six months later, three of the new supervisors have quit from stress. Has anyone else turned down a 'step up' that was really just a dead end with more headaches?

Wait, they only offered an extra two dollars for all that extra work? That's barely anything after taxes. How do they even expect someone to live on that?

Maybe they see it as a stepping stone, not a final wage. An extra two bucks adds up over a year, and some responsibility has to start somewhere. Could be they're just testing who's willing to put in the extra effort for future roles. Isn't that how a lot of promotions work at first? You take on more to prove you can handle it, then the real pay jump comes later.
