Realized my cubicle clock was 8 minutes fast and nobody cared
I was at my desk at a call center in Phoenix last Tuesday and noticed the wall clock was off. When I fixed it, my supervisor said just leave it because everyone schedules their breaks around the wrong time anyway. Has anyone else found weird things like that at their job that just stick around because nobody bothers to fix them?

Fixed the thermostat in our break room once and got told off for it. Apparently everyone had gotten used to the temp being off by like 10 degrees and planned their layers around it. What worked for me was just letting it go and syncing my own watch to the wrong time like everyone else. It's honestly less stressful to just go with the weird system than try to fix something nobody wants fixed. Plus you end up bonding with coworkers over the shared nonsense, you know? Like that clock being 8 mins fast is probably the most interesting thing that happens in that call center all week lol.

It's wild how many little systems like that exist everywhere, where the broken thing becomes the normal thing and everyone just adapts around it. Makes you wonder how many bigger things we do that too, like at the DMV or in traffic patterns.
