Read a report that said the average person stays in a 'bad fit' job for over 18 months
I was looking at some old government work reports online and saw a stat that made me pause. It said the average worker stays in a job they know is wrong for them for about 18 months before leaving. That's a year and a half of just grinding it out, hoping it gets better or something else comes along. I've been at my current place for almost two years now, and that number hit way too close to home. It got me wondering what makes people finally pull the plug. For those who left a dead end spot, what was the final thing that made you hand in your notice?

That 18 month stat feels painfully accurate. I stuck it out at my last job for almost exactly that long, just hoping things would improve. The final push was a third straight month of being asked to do work that went against my basic values.
