Just realized that online 'career coach' I paid $200 to was a total scam

He gave me a generic personality test and told me to 'follow my passion' with zero practical steps. I could have bought a decent interview suit with that cash. Has anyone actually found a legit way to get real career advice without getting ripped off?

Ugh, that's just a fancy personality quiz.

The real kicker is that the whole "follow your passion" advice is actually proven to backfire for most people. Studies show it can make you feel more stuck and anxious when the passion doesn't magically pay the bills. Instead of paying a coach, try reaching out to people in jobs you actually want on LinkedIn and ask them for a 15 minute chat about their day to day. Most folks love talking about themselves and you skip the middleman completely. That $200 could have bought you a nice coffee for a few of those conversations instead.
