I dropped $300 on a 'career coach' who just gave me a generic resume template

I was feeling stuck at my call center job and saw an ad for a local career coach. I paid for three sessions, about $300 total. All she did was give me a basic resume template I could have found online for free and told me to 'network more'. It felt like a total scam and set me back financially when I was already tight on cash. Has anyone else tried something like this and actually gotten good, specific advice that helped? I'm trying to figure out my next step without wasting more money.

Sometimes you get what you pay for, and $300 for three sessions is actually pretty cheap. A free template is a starting point, and telling you to network is basic but solid advice. Maybe the real issue was you expected a magic fix instead of doing the work yourself. It's on you to bring your own goals and questions to get more out of it.

Demand a refund, that's just lazy.

My cousin waited 6 months for a refund on a couch. It's not lazy, it's exhausting.
