A patient in my chair last month gave me the push I needed

I was cleaning the teeth of this guy named Mark, and he asked me how long I'd been doing this. When I said seven years, he just looked at me and said, 'You seem too sharp to be stuck here forever.' It happened in exam room 3, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Has anyone else had a random comment from a stranger that finally made you start looking for something else?

Wow, that's wild. It's crazy how a total outsider can see your life clearer than you can. That guy had zero reason to say that, which makes it feel MORE true, you know? Like he wasn't just being nice. Sometimes you need that one blunt sentence from a stranger to crack everything open.

Totally. Had a bartender tell me I looked like I was running from something once. Stuck with me for years.

Man, that hits hard. I had a gas station clerk ask me once if I was okay, just out of the blue. I wasn't, but I didn't even know it until she said it. Those random moments of being seen by a stranger can shake you right up. It's like they have this weird radar for the stuff you're trying to hide.
