Question about that whole "Mac vs Windows" thing for everyday use

I've been a Windows guy forever, like since 2005. Always thought Macs were overpriced and just for people who wanted to look cool. Then my buddy let me borrow his M1 MacBook Air for a week last month cause my laptop died. Honestly, the battery lasted me 3 full days without charging. I was skeptical but now I dont know what to think. Is that battery life normal for all Macs or just the new ones? Has anyone else switched and regretted it?

Dude that battery life is no joke right? I switched from a ThinkPad to a used M1 MacBook Pro last year for the same reason - battery. My old laptop died in like 4 hours, this thing lasts me two and a half days easy with normal web browsing and some light coding. The M1 chips are a different beast, older Intel Macs don't get that kind of battery at all. I was worried about software compatibility but everything I use has a Mac version or works fine through Rosetta. Never looked back honestly. The only thing I miss is right clicking with two fingers instead of a dedicated button, but you get used to it.

Whoa, gotta disagree with you there! I actually went from a MacBook to a Dell ThinkPad, and battery life is way better on the Windows side for me. Like, my old M1 Mac maybe got 8 hours tops, but this ThinkPad X1 Carbon I have runs for a solid 12 hours on a charge, even with heavy use. And compatibility wise, macOS was a nightmare for me - half my work tools either didn't have a Mac version or ran super slow under Rosetta, which defeats the purpose of saving battery. Right clicking with two fingers is actually a pro in my book, it feels more natural than hunting for a dedicated button that's too small. Plus, I can actually upgrade the RAM and storage later, instead of being stuck with whatever Apple decided at the factory. No offense, but I think the M1 hype is mostly marketing if you don't live in Apple's perfect little ecosystem.
