My library's free laptop checkout totally changed my view on battery life
I was at the downtown branch last Thursday waiting for my usual hold, and the librarian handed me a loaner Lenovo-I got almost 9 hours out of it before I even looked for an outlet. Has anyone else tried public laptops and noticed their own machine drains way faster for no clear reason?

and this is exactly what I've been noticing everywhere lately. It's like the stuff we own is designed to drain faster, but the stuff that's shared and maintained by someone else just works better. My buddy's library laptop story lines up with how my work phone battery lasts all day, but my personal one dies by 2pm. Or how rental cars get 40mpg but my own car struggles to hit 30. Makes you wonder if companies are building in planned failure on purpose, right?
