The week everything went wrong with the trash pickup

So last month in Austin I had this stretch where the city just stopped picking up our trash for like four days straight. On Tuesday I put out the bins like normal, but they never came. Wednesday I did the same thing, nothing. By Thursday the cans were overflowing and the squirrels figured out how to knock them over. I called the city three times and got a recording every single time. Finally on Friday a crew showed up at 6 AM, dumped everything, and left a note saying the truck broke down twice. Has anyone else had a garbage truck situation spiral into a full neighborhood drama?

Wait, the squirrel thing got that out of control? That's HILARIOUS but also completely gross, I bet your whole street smelled like a dump for two days. Four days with no pickup in Texas heat sounds like a NIGHTMARE, I would have been losing my mind.

Dude, four days in Texas heat with rotting trash? Hell no. I can smell that just reading about it. The maggots alone would have me moving out. And a squirrel started it all? That's insane. One little animal caused a whole block to stink like death. I would have been burning sage and calling the city every hour.
