Just realized I hit 1,000 days straight with my anemometer readings

I was looking through my weather logs last night and noticed I've been recording wind speed and direction every single morning for 1,000 days straight. That's like almost three years of getting up at 6am to check the cup on the roof. I started doing it because I was curious if wind patterns matched the local forecast, but now it feels more like a habit I can't break. Have you ever tracked something daily for a long time and noticed patterns you didn't expect?

Does checking a wind cup for three years really tell you anything the weather app can't? Seems like a lot of 6am effort for some pretty basic data.

Three years of the same routine at 6am? You bet that data tells you things a weather app just can't catch. The cup might show you micro-patterns on your exact patch of ground, like how the wind funnels between your house and that big oak tree. Weather apps are great for broad strokes, but they miss those local quirks that mess with a garden or a backyard project.
