TIL a simple price match request saved me $60 on a vacuum cleaner
I was about to buy a cordless vacuum at Best Buy last week, a Dyson V8 for $350. The sales clerk asked if I found a better price anywhere else. I told him no, I just needed a new one. He smiled and said he'd check anyway, and he pulled up a price at Walmart for $290. He matched it right there and I walked out saving $60. I always assumed price matching was too much hassle or only worked if I brought a flyer. Now I ask at every store before buying anything over $50. Has anyone else had a cashier offer to price match without you even asking?

Wait the cashier actually did that without you asking? That's wild. I've heard of people asking for price matches but never had a salesperson just volunteer to check unless they're trying to hit some kind of quota or something. Most Best Buy employees I've dealt with look like they want to be anywhere else in the world besides helping me. Honestly sounds like you got the one nice employee left in retail, that's basically finding a unicorn in the wild.
