That bulk subscription box I was sure was a gimmick actually saved me money

I signed up for a bulk spice subscription back in January, mostly because my wife insisted. I figured it was just another way to get overpriced jars of cumin. After 4 months, I actually checked what I was spending per ounce versus the grocery store. The subscription was $12 a box for 6 jars, and the same amounts at the local market would have cost me almost $20. Has anyone else tried a recurring deal they were skeptical of and found it paid off?

Well color me surprised, my "gimmick" bag of chips subscription is the only thing keeping my snack budget from going off the rails.

Oh man, I've been there. What worked for me was setting a strict "one bag per month" rule for the fancy subscription stuff and then grabbing the boring store brand for regular munching. I also started portioning out the good chips into little containers so they last longer, it sounds silly but it really helps. The trick is to treat the subscription like a reward, not a daily thing, and then your snack budget won't sneak up on you.
