That Amazon "Lightning Deal" that cost me $60

Last week I jumped on what looked like an amazing lightning deal for a big pack of AA batteries. I clicked buy without checking the seller history because it said 70% off and only 3 hours left. Turns out it was a third party reseller selling counterfeit batteries that leaked all over my TV remote. Amazon refunded me after I filed a claim but it still took 4 days of back and forth. Has anyone else gotten burned by those timer countdown deals?

Fell for the exact same thing last month on a "flash sale" for a name brand blender. It showed 82% off and a countdown clock so I rushed through checkout without reading anything. The box arrived with some cheap generic blender that sounded like a lawnmower and died after two uses. Took me a week to get my money back because the seller kept claiming I had to ship it back to China at my own cost. Those fake timers are designed to make you panic and skip the research.

Walmart did the same thing with "down from $300" on a toaster that never cost that much.

Saw a consumer watchdog report saying those lightning deals are actually 3x more likely to be from shady sellers with zero reviews. Did you check the seller page before you clicked?
