Switched up my deal-hunting after a reddit comment about shipping costs
I was bragging in a thread about getting a $50 espresso machine on sale, and someone replied asking if I factored in the $18 shipping fee. Honestly I never even looked at that part before. Now I always sort by total price with shipping included before I get excited about a bargain. Has anyone else learned a trick the hard way like that?

The $18 shipping really stings though. It reminds me of that whole "free shipping with $50 minimum" trick stores pull. You end up adding an extra $15 just to save $8 on shipping. I started checking my total cart price before I even open the website now. Its like how grocery stores put the cheap stuff at eye level but the real deals are on the bottom shelf. You gotta train yourself to look past the first number they show you.

Yeah I get what you're saying about the checkout trick, but the grocery store thing isn't quite right. The cheap stuff at eye level is actually the stuff with the highest profit margins, not the best deals. The real loss leaders and sale items are usually on the bottom shelf or end caps where you gotta bend down or walk to see them. Same concept though, you gotta look past what's easiest to see. I always check shipping before I even add anything to my cart now too.
