Spent 45 minutes hunting for a 5 cent coupon code on a $12 shirt

I was about to buy this plain t-shirt from a random site yesterday. The price was $12 with free shipping which seemed fine. But I got stubborn and spent 45 whole minutes digging through coupon sites and forums for a code. I tried like 15 different expired ones before I gave up. By the time I finished the shirt was back to full price because their flash sale ended. So I paid $18 for being too greedy with my time. Has anyone else wasted way too long hunting for a tiny discount that backfired?

Set a strict 10 minute timer before you start looking for coupons, it forces you to stop and just buy the thing. I learned that one the hard way after losing a 20% off deal by spending too long chasing another 5%. Does your browser have a built in price tracker or coupon finder?

The timer trick is smart because it taps into something real about how we shop these days. It's like the whole bargain hunting thing has turned into this weird game where you're trying to beat the system but end up losing time and sometimes money. I've noticed that pattern everywhere, not just shopping. People spend so much energy looking for the perfect deal or the best route or the ideal time to do something that they forget the real goal was just to get it done. Maybe it's just me but sometimes the fastest way to buy something is to just hit that buy button and move on with your day.
