Showerthought: I was paying $15 a month for a grocery app that just tracks what I buy

I used to think those grocery savings apps were worth it because they gave me digital receipts and coupons. Then last month I actually added up the subscription cost over two years. That's $360 I could have spent on actual food. Now I just use a free notes app on my phone to track prices on things like eggs and milk. The only real deal was the app getting my money, not saving it. Anyone else catch themselves paying for stuff that's basically just a list?

Started using a simple spreadsheet on my phone instead and it does the exact same job for free. That app subscription added up way faster than I ever expected, especially for something that's basically just tracking numbers. Taught me to question every monthly payment I have now, no matter how small it seems.

Preach. It is wild how fast those little subscription fees add up before you even notice. A few bucks here and there feels like nothing until you actually add it all up at the end of the year. Then you realize you could have bought something real or just saved it. That spreadsheet move is smart because it forces you to see the big picture. Sometimes the simplest tools work the best, no doubt about it.
