My buddy's comment about coupon stacking made me rethink everything

I was bragging to my friend Dave about saving $12 on laundry detergent last week. He just looked at me and said "you know you can combine store coupons with manufacturer ones, right?" Felt dumb. I've been bargain hunting for 5 years and never tried that. Has anyone else missed this simple trick for way too long?

Oh man, that reminds me of my friend Karen. She's been couponing for like 8 years and always bragged about her system. She was at the store one day and saw a lady buying like 12 bottles of the fancy dish soap for almost nothing. Karen asked how she did it and the lady just showed her the store policy. Karen had never bothered to read the fine print in the coupon section of the weekly ad. Turns out her store lets you stack a store coupon with a manufacturer coupon on top of a sale price. She missed out on hundreds of dollars in savings over the years.

Is her friend really missing out though? lol. I mean if she's been doing it for 8 years and still saving money without the stacking, she's probably doing just fine. Sometimes getting the best deal is more about consistency than the absolute maximum savings anyway.
