Finally cracked a coupon code after 45 minutes of trial and error

Honestly, I spent way too long trying to stack two discount codes on a pair of boots last night. Took me 45 minutes of refreshing and testing combos before I got 30% off total. Has anyone else had a deal that just refused to work at first?

The trick is to quit out and start a fresh browser session when they fight you. Cleared cookies, opened an incognito window, and the second code finally kicked in on its own. Some sites flag you if you try too many failures in a row. For those boot sites especially, I've had luck using one code at checkout and the second one through a cashback app instead of stacking both at once. Try pulling up Honey or something on the side next time, it might save you 20 minutes of frustration.

Gotta second what @williamschmidt said about fresh browser sessions - that trick saved me on a pair of hiking boots from a big outdoor site last year. What finally worked for me was opening a private window on my phone, but then using the site's mobile version instead of desktop. Somehow the code for 15% off that kept erroring out on my laptop went through first try on mobile. Also, I noticed that if you try too many codes in a row, the site will literally blacklist your IP for a few hours - happened to me with a shoe store, had to wait until the next day. Stacking through a cashback app on top of the checkout code is solid advice too, that's how I got an extra 10% back on a winter jacket last month.
