Almost got my truck stuck in mud at a job site outside Phoenix yesterday

I was laying drainage pipe near a new foundation and the soil looked dry on top. Three steps in and my boots sank past the ankle, whole damn area was a hidden bog from a leaky sprinkler line. Had to crawl on my hands and knees to solid ground, then call the foreman to bring a bobcat to pull my work truck out. Ended up losing 45 minutes of daylight and had to redo the marker flags. Anybody else ever trust a dry looking patch of dirt and regret it big time?

That "hidden bog from a leaky sprinkler line" is honestly the kind of nightmare that makes me double check every job site for buried pipes now. I read about a crew in Tucson that lost a whole week of work to a similar hidden leak situation, it was a total mess.

Wait, did you always check for buried pipes before this?
