Two-factor authentication made my online banking slower, not safer

I set up 2FA with an authenticator app on my phone last month in Chicago, but now I get locked out every time I switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data. The codes don't sync right and I've had to call support twice to reset my account. Has anyone else dealt with a setup that just creates more headaches than it solves?

The authenticator app isn't really the issue here. The problem is how your phone handles the time sync when switching networks. Most authenticator apps rely on your phone's internal clock staying accurate, and jumping between Wi-Fi and mobile data can mess with that. You probably need to set your phone to update the time automatically using your carrier's network instead of the network you're connected to. The app itself isn't creating the problem, it's just showing the symptoms of a clock that's drifting. Check your date and time settings and make sure automatic time zone and network time are both turned on. That should fix the code mismatch and save you the hassle of calling support again.

Bet you never thought your phone's clock would be the one gaslighting you lol. Just another reason to hate switching networks I guess.
